TRUE AFRICAN ADVENTURE STORIES - THE CHILDREN

THE CHILDREN

We ministered in villages where no white person had ever ministered.  In one such village, about 80 percent of the children and teens, and even some of the mothers, fled from me in terror.  But, after spending time with them, dancing, greeting them in their language, and teaching them, sometimes, for hours, through interpreters, and then gently embracing some of the more courageous of them, I was able to gain their confidence enough to allow for hugging most of them, in a society where it is not common for a child to be embraced by their father.  But, I was teaching them about a life-style of intimacy with the Heavenly Father, Who stands all day long with His hands out-stretched.

Isa 65:2  “I have spread out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, who walk in the way which is not good, following their own thoughts,”

(NAS)

Isa 49:16  “See, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are ever before Me.”  (NIV)

Isa 44:5  “This one will say, ‘I am the LORD’S’; and that one will call on the name of Jacob; and another will write on his hand, ‘Belonging to the LORD,’ [or, ‘the Lord’s, or ‘Yahweh’s’] and will name Israel's name with honor.”  (NAS)

Mark 10:13  “People were bringing little children to Jesus to have Him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.  14  When Jesus saw this, He was indignant. He said to them, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  15  I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.’  16 And He took the children in His arms, put His hands on them and blessed them.”  (NIV)

Ps 91:1  “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  2  I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. - -  4  He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”  (KJV)

Col 3:1  “If then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  2  Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.  3  For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”  (NAS)
