Driving On The Wrong Side Of The Road!:  A night journey.

Joshua and I were met in Johannesburg by Peter, our pastor friend from Lesthoto, an island nation completely surrounded by South Africa.  But the driver was unaccustomed to city driving, and to night driving.  Soon, we were trying to find our way through the worst crime areas and our driver was frozen with fear.  Picture us in the middle of the freeway, driving 35 miles an hour, at night, while the traffic would zoom up behind us at 70 miles an hour, squeal their tyres, sound their horns and careen around us.  I told Peter, who could not drive.  "Look, there is no other solution.  Both Joshua and I can drive better than this man.  We refuse to go another foot under these conditions!"   Even though the taxi was a hired car, the owner, far from being offended, gladly climbed into the back seat and went to sleep, while Joshua and I drove on the wrong side of the car, on the wrong side of the road, all through the night, all the way to Lesotho border.   As the sun was coming up, the driver awoke, climbed under the steering wheel, took us safely across the border into our town.
