3 INTERPRETERS

To speak with the assistance of an interpreter was common.  But, sometimes, in the Republique du Benin, we would use 2 interpreters, and even 3, so that there would be four of us, sometimes passing the microphone, or the tape recorder, down the line, first me, speaking West African English, then an interpreter into French, then another interpreter into Yoruba, and fourth, another interpreter, would translate into the language spoken by the people locally
